Caramelized Pork Belly

Sweet, savory, sticky, and tender. This is the ultimate comfort food! If you have to be stuck at home, then at least allow yourself the pleasure of having your kitchen smell like this dish.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tbsp Minced Garlic

  • 3 tbsp Oil

  • 6 cups Water

  • 2 lb Pork Belly, Skin On

  • 5 tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 4 tbsp Light Soy Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce

DIRECTIONS

  1. Boil pork for 3 minutes. Strain

  2. Melt oil and sugar on medium heat

  3. Add pork and toss

  4. Add liquids and garlic

  5. Bring to boil on high heat

  6. Cover

  7. Let simmer on low heat for 45 minutes

  8. Uncover

  9. Let reduce on high heat until sauce thickens (approx. 15 minutes. if you prefer to add peeled boiled eggs, do it now before the sauce reduces)
