Agedashi Tofu
You’ll be amazed at how simple and fast this dish is! Restaurant quality flavor is extremely easy to achieve with this recipe. Do yourself a favor and double the recipe ;)
INGREDIENTS
1 package medium firm tofu
1/2 cup corn starch or potato starch
Oil for frying
BROTH
1 cup dashi broth, or chicken broth or vegetable broth
2 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tbsp mirin
GARNISH
2 scallions chopped finely
3 tbsp fried bonito fish flakes
Grated daikon radish (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Combine all ingredients for sauce in a sauce pan. bring to boil then remove from heat and set aside
Remove tofu from package, drain excess water
Wrap tofu in 3 paper towels and set on plate for at least 10 minutes
Discard paper towels
Cut tofu into desired sizes
Heat oil for frying to 325°
Coat tofu in starch and gently dust off excess
Carefully lower the tofu into the hot oil and fry 2 minutes per side
Shake off excess oil and plate tofu in a deep dish or bowl
Garnish with fish flakes and scallion. Gently pour broth into the bowl. Enjoy!
